Tigard election results: Measure to change charter urban renewal language passes

A measure changing language in Tigard’s city charter has passed, which the city has called key to revitalizing downtown.

Support for the measure leads 75 percent to 25 percent, according to results released by Washington County’s elections office late Tuesday night.  Read More…

Street Fair invites families to take a stroll and enjoy community offerings

The second annual Explore Downtown Tigard Street Fair on Saturday featured a little something for everyone.

Families enjoyed carnival games, checking out street vendors’ wares, decorating the sidewalk with chalk sketches, arts and crafts and a selection of food.  Read more

Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a host of Stormtroopers will be marching through downtown Tigard later this month.

But the Star Wars characters aren’t here for any nefarious purpose, they’re the guests of honor at the second annual Explore Downtown Tigard Street Fair.

Main Street Green Street Update – May 22, 5-7 p.m.

Come join the City of Tigard the 4th Wednesday of each month from 5-7 p.m. for an update on the Main Street Green Street project, part of the revitalization of Downtown Tigard.  Meetings will be held in the back room of Max’s Fanno Creek Brew Pub.

Plan to revamp TriMet bus schedules means easier commutes from Sherwood to Portland

TriMet is trying to make taking the bus from Sherwood to downtown Portland much easier.

Officials explained the plans to add express and local buses for the No. 94 (Pacific Hwy/Sherwood) and No. 12 (Barbur/Sandy Blvd.) lines at an open house in Tigard Wednesday night. Any changes would take effect late summer or fall.

This is part of TriMet’s broader attempt to restore services after years of cuts.

“We cut a lot of service south of Tigard,” said Kerry Ayres-Palanuk, a TriMet service planning manager.  “But we heard from a lot of people that it’s just not working very well.”  Read more

New Off-street Parking Lot at Main and Burnham – Posted 4/17/13

The city is constructing a 20-stall paved public parking lot on two city-owned lots on Burnham Street near the corner of Main Street. The $127,000 project is paid for with urban renewal funds. Read more…
